ADFEST Announces More Craft@ADFEST Sessions: 21st – 22nd MARCH 2018

ADFEST has unveiled six more sessions as part of its Craft@ADFEST program, which features many of the world’s most respected and ambitious production, digital and technology companies including Cirkus (Auckland), Getty Images (Tokyo & Bangkok), Smoke & Mirrors (London), Syn Music (Tokyo) and Cheil Worldwide (Seoul).

ADFEST’s 2018 program can be viewed via www.ADFEST.com, and is divided into two halves: Craft@ADFEST (21 – 22 March) and Creative@ADFEST (23 – 24 March).

This is CGI! Wait, really? presented by Marko Klijn, Executive Producer at Cirkus, Auckland

Do you think you can tell the difference between what’s computer generated and what’s real? Marko Klijn will put your eyes to the test, showing how actually adding imperfections to 3D models and textures allows for CGI to feel real and tactile. Based in Auckland, Klijn has been active in the animation industry for 20 years.

Visual Trends & Shifting Societal Perception, presented by Kumi Shimamoto, Vice President, Japan and South-East Asia & Ravinunt Nena Putthibavornkul, Country Manager, at Getty Images

Getty Images has been tracking and identifying the visual trends that have shaped cultural and social debate over the past five years. Their fascinating research will help brands more powerfully engage with audiences and embrace a more diverse, inclusive and representative visual language.

(Tokyo), Huixin Law, Assistant Director from Reservoir World Sdn Bhd (Kuala Lumpur), Shuhei Murata, Director & Planner from Pyramid Film Quadra Inc. (Tokyo), and Thuy Vy, DOP & Director from The Directors Group (Melbourne), this session will be moderated by the 2018 Jury President of Film Craft Lotus & New Director Lotus, Timo Mitsuaki Otsuki, Founder & CEO of Connection in Tokyo.

How to manage the reputation of a creative company when you’re part of a global entity, Lucy Borne, Global Publicity & Marketing Director, Smoke & Mirrors, Amsterdam

Lucy Borne, Global Publicity & Marketing Director at Smoke & Mirrors in Amsterdam, will share some of the learnings in the wake of Smoke & Mirrors’ acquisition by DHL and then in 2017 by Advent. “During that period, we quadrupled in size and won awards for our work; all while being managed by a company with a corporate structure that was designed to homogenise everything it could to save cost.” She’ll explain how Smoke & Mirrors kept its creative ethos alive and succeeded in an unfamiliar landscape.

Tech, Your new BFF, Jax Jung, Associate Creative Director at Cheil Worldwide, Seoul

Technology is evolving so quickly that there are no experts – we are all in the process of defining it, and developing the communications we build around it, as we go. “Force-fitting pre-existing tech to a piece of work that wasn’t designed for it can be problematic. We need to build the ideas first and build it into tech,” explains Jung, Associate Creative Director at Cheil Worldwide. She is behind two innovative campaigns for Samsung Electronics: “Look at Me”, a mobile application to help autistic children make eye contact; and “BeFearless”, helping millennials address their fear of public speaking.
